Paul Macnamee
Paul McNamee is a former professional tennis player
from Australia.
During his career he was ranked the World No. 1
men’s doubles player. He won 24 men’s doubles
titles including two at Wimbledon
Championships (in 1980 and 1982) and two
at the Australian Open (in 1979 and 1983). He
also won two top-level singles titles. (His
career-high singles ranking was World No. 24.)
McNamee was also a member of the Australian teams
which won the Davis Cup in 1983 and 1986.
McNamee played a key role in the founding of the
Hopman Cup international tennis tournament in
1988. He now serves as Tournament Director of the
Hopman Cup and CEO of the Australian Open
